Misquotes, Lies and deception in Watchtower Publications
by jwfacts ini have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
there have also been a number of requests over the years for such a collection.

Complexity, Evolutionists Biggest Problem
by Sea Breeze inrecently, some scientists modeled one of the simplest known cells - that of a bacteria.
it took an army of 128 computers running for 10 hours to process the data required in the 25 categories of molecules that are involved in this "simple cells'" life processes.
think about that for a moment - 128 computers running for 10 hours just to compute the data, not actually do it mind you; but just to model the known processes in one of the simplest known cells, which is many orders of magnitude simpler than a human cell.

From my research of the Covid-19 vaccines (from sources I consider authoritative on the subject, such as the CDC) I read that they do not alter human DNA. The body receives a harmless fragment of mRNA virus instructions which causes the body to make a harmless portion of the virus, which then causes the body's immune system to recognize that fragment of the virus and to destroy it. The body also destroys the mRNA virus instructions it received.
When we get infected with any virus our bodies begin manufacturing the virus, until our bodies eventually destroy (or otherwise defeat) the virus (or until we die, which is usually many years later and due to other causes, which ever comes first).
After reading about the Covid-19 vaccines and thinking about what I read about them I decided to take the vaccine.

JW's (from a "foreign" language congregation/group) out in field service came to my door recently as in 2020 (but before Covid-19) and/or 2019. The ones from the main language group of the local congregation (of whose territory I live in) stopped coming a few years ago because I asked people from that congregation language group to put me on the "do not call list". I think now the foreign" language congregation/group that meets at the same KH now has me on record as being on the "do not call list".
Regarding meeting attendance on Zoom I wonder if the actual attendance is much lower than the number of people who log into the meeting and get counted in the attendance. Since people can have the camera off and since some people use land line phones and other phones lacking a camera, a person could simply log into the Zoom meeting and walk away without watching or even listening to the meeting. That would be an easy way for them to avoid meeting attendance while still being counted as attending the meeting. What do you folks think of that?

Vidiot, though you are right in saying "the D2D work and in-person KH meetings were the two most effective forms of tribal bonding", when I was an active JW I strongly disliked (other than the opportunities for socializing) the field service work (both by door to door and by "street witnessing"), the listening to the meetings at the KH (and in the in-home congregational book studies) and at the assemblies/conventions, and the studying for such. I wanted to do other things than attending and participating at religious meetings, attempting to evangelize for religion, and studying religion at home. The religious activities (with relatively few exceptions for me) were extremely boring for me, but while I was active I begrudgingly did them because I thought it was my duty to Jehovah God to do so.
It was a huge waste of my of time to have been active as a JW. That time would have been better spent studying science, engaging in interesting hobbies, not hindering the development and use of my critical thinking abilities, and studying the stock market more (so as to do much better in the stock market and become rich as a result and thus be able to retire early from work and focus on living the kind of life I most like).
I think a big reason the WT had for the in-person field service/ministry work and KH meetings is not for bonding but rather for keeping JW's minds on the JW religion (including being controlled by the WT and the governing body). With those activities now being done remotely, the number of active JWs will likely shrink dramatically and rapidly.

Is old Watchtower literature being preserved by any particular entity?
by Etude ini read a recent post from mickbobcat about how expensive some of the old watchtower literature for sale is.
is there a group or entity that is working to digitize or somehow preserve the old literature, giving others the ability to research them?.

There are a number of websites containing digital copies of various old WT publications. One is https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/historical-publications.php and that site has links to some other sites which have copies which can be read online.

Here are links (and accompanying headings) to great news from 03-24-2021 about how we now know in a major way why human brains are so much bigger than non-human ape brains. What is reported in the articles is the effect of the type of expression in just one gene making the huge difference! See the following:
- "Lab-grown mini ‘brains’ of humans and apes reveal why one got so much bigger: Using lab-grown mini-brains, scientists have figured out why humans have bigger brains than those of apes" at https://www.livescience.com/human-ape-brain-evolution-differences.html .- "Scientists discover how humans develop larger brains than other apes" at https://phys.org/news/2021-03-scientists-humans-larger-brains-apes.html . That article says in part the following:
"A new study is the first to identify how human brains grow much larger, with three times as many neurons, compared with chimpanzee and gorilla brains. The study, led by researchers at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK, identified a key molecular switch that can make ape brain organoids grow more like human organoids, and vice versa.
...
To uncover the genetic mechanism driving these differences, the researchers compared gene expression—which genes are turned on and off—in the human brain organoids versus the other apes.
They identified differences in a gene called 'ZEB2', which was turned on sooner in gorilla brain organoids than in the human organoids.
To test the effects of the gene in gorilla progenitor cells, they delayed the effects of ZEB2. This slowed the maturation of the progenitor cells, making the gorilla brain organoids develop more similarly to human—slower and larger.
Conversely, turning on the ZEB2 gene sooner in human progenitor cells promoted premature transition in human organoids, so that they developed more like ape organoids."
Thus, scientists have discovered a major part of the explanation to what the WT and other creationist organizations imply is an solvable mystery of how unguided evolution could have caused such a huge difference in brain size between Homo sapiens and non-human apes. [For example, see page 55 of the WT's book called Is There a Creator Who Cares About You?]
The God (as Creator) Hypothesis and the Intelligent Designer/Creator Hypothesis are completely unnecessary (and superfluous) in explaining how diversity of life came into existence on planet Earth.

A fascinating book about how complexity can naturalistically arise from an evolutionist point of view is Complexity: Life at the Edge of Chaos, by Roger Lewin. The author has a Ph. D. in biochemistry, is a science writer, is a former editor of New Scientist magazine, and was Research News editor of the journal called Science. One of other his great books is called Thread of Life.

Spiritually Weak Ones Are Bad Association according to the Governing Body
by RULES & REGULATIONS inafter you read the words of jesus in mark 2: 17, you will see that the contrast between the teachings of jesus and the governing body.. .
you clearly read what's written in the bible, but the society is always twisting and bending scriptures to their benefit.
here is stephen lett talking about ''spiritually weak'' members and twisting jesus's words teaching on sinners:.

The idea about bad associations existing in Christian congregations and of such bad associations causing danger to the other Christians in the congregations comes from Paul's words at 1 Corinthians 15:33. The context of that verse (see verses 12 - 34 of the same chapter) is about Christians in the congregations saying that there will be no future resurrection of the dead. "The International Bible Commentary With the New International Version" [General Editor (revised edition): F. F. Bruce; New edition 1986] on page 1384 says regarding the "Bad company" portion of verse 33 the following: "Keeping company with men who reject the resurrection will corrupt Christian character. The quotation is a line from Menander's Thais, c. 320 B.C., although it may by Paul's time have been a common Greek proverb."
Regarding the "Bad company" reference "The New Bible Commentary: Revised" (Edited by Guthrie and Motyer; copyright 1970) says the following on page 1072 "... The Corinthians will ruin their Christian lives by mixing with those who live merely for selfish pleasures because they deny any resurrection or final judgement."
The "Life Application Study Bible: New American Standard Bible--Updated Edition" (copyright 2000 by Zondervan) on page 2028 in the study note for 1 Cor. 15:33 says "Keeping company with those who deny the resurrection could corrupt good Christian character. Don't let your relationship with unbelievers lead you away from Christ or cause your faith to waiver."
